Utopia Home Care is proud to announce that Julia Jenne, Certified Senior Advisor and Utopia's Community Liaison, has completed a certification for the "Workforce Advancement through Geriatric Education" (W.A.G.E.) program. Funded by a grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Service Administration (H.S.R.A.) the program was designed to educate and prepare geriatric care providers with the skills necessary to address the physical, psychological and cultural issues existing in geriatric care settings.
Older adults are living longer with multiple health problems (many of which are chronic) and are requiring more health care. This N.Y.I.T. program focuses on increasing the geriatric expertise and competency level of licensed nurses and professionals who are caring for the aging population. The multidimensional care and knowledge needed to assist the aging population in optimizing and maintaining their health status requires expertise and continued education for all levels of health care providers.
