Utopia Home Care Participates in "Connecticut Hospital Day" in Hartford, CT

Utopia Home Care of Connecticut participated in "Connecticut Hospital Day," held at the Capitol building in Hartford on April 11th. The event, organized by the Connecticut Hospital Association, featured interviews and testimonials from patients, hospital staff, and legislators voicing concerns over upcoming funding changes.

In an effort to balance the budget, Connecticut's 2013 budget is slated to cut $550 million dollars in health care funding over the next two years. The cuts will undoubtedly have a trickle down effect on funding for state health care programs, creation of health care related jobs, and delivery of patient care.

Utopia Home Care's Raymond Baldwin spoke on behalf of home care agencies and patients across the state who would be impacted by the cuts. Utopia services a large client population whose care is directly funded by state programs that would be subjected to cuts over the next two years, on top of to changes in Medicare/Medicaid.
